This is a mini electric organ that I picked up at a thrift store and decided to revamp. I tend to pic up too many crazy little things at the thrift store because I get ideas of ways to change them that don't always pan out, but this experiment turned out great! It used to be all that light cream color that you see around the black and white square keys. I filled in all the dips in the organ with black, and painted the raised parts with turquoise acrylic. I decided to make the top part of the organ a focal point becuase it had a really nice framed in rectangle there. I covered it with tissue paper with a cream and gold pattern on it, becuase I thought that the turquoise accented it nicely. I added the butterflies in the corners, and some brown ribbon to add more texture and interest. The paper is covered with acrylic gel medium. And the last touch was the fake wood detail on the left hand side. I thought it gave it an organic feel, and was another well suited accent.
This wooden frame was a score for only $1.50! It started out as plain white pine, but I decided to do some wood carving to make it mroe interesting. All the black areas on the frame are carved out by hand. The crevices I colored black, and the raised bits I painted turquoise again. I have a bit of an obsession with that color in case you can't tell. I had some sore arms after this one. I think I need better tools hahah! but I like how it turned out. P.S. Thats me and my sister Jenny in the photo!
