Classroom Capers

I tried out a grain filter and added some more elements as suggested. I know it still could have even more going on, but this is it for now. It was meant to be a test to create a cohesive look. These characters were intended to be animated...but that project is on the back burner for now. This was still fun all the same!

Schtuffs

Closer to the final look for the classroom....I know its creepy because there are half finished characters on top. Pretend they have all their parts! haha. Anyways, more stuff in the classroom now! woo woo! Looks less empty. It's coming together...Things will look better with the 8mm film filter on top of it all.

you know who it is...

I did a wonky sketch of sailor moon years and years ago and finally decided to color it on the computer. The weird thing is that i noticed lots of people posting sailor moon stuff around the same time. Weird collective consciousnesss stuff haha!

B.F.F

This is my graduating film from my fourth year at Sheridan College 2007. The title is B.F.F. (best friends forever) and yes I know that is super cheese. It was intentional haha. It was dedicated to my best friend Kristie MacDonald. The music was supplied by my good friend Mr. Keith Hamilton and his band The Postage Stamps. Check out their stuff if you get the chance and support the local talent! You won't regret listening.

Personal Projects

This is a mini electric organ that I picked up at a thrift store and decided to revamp. I tend to pic up too many crazy little things at the thrift store because I get ideas of ways to change them that don't always pan out, but this experiment turned out great! It used to be all that light cream color that you see around the black and white square keys. I filled in all the dips in the organ with black, and painted the raised parts with turquoise acrylic. I decided to make the top part of the organ a focal point becuase it had a really nice framed in rectangle there. I covered it with tissue paper with a cream and gold pattern on it, becuase I thought that the turquoise accented it nicely. I added the butterflies in the corners, and some brown ribbon to add more texture and interest. The paper is covered with acrylic gel medium. And the last touch was the fake wood detail on the left hand side. I thought it gave it an organic feel, and was another well suited accent.
This wooden frame was a score for only $1.50! It started out as plain white pine, but I decided to do some wood carving to make it mroe interesting. All the black areas on the frame are carved out by hand. The crevices I colored black, and the raised bits I painted turquoise again. I have a bit of an obsession with that color in case you can't tell. I had some sore arms after this one. I think I need better tools hahah! but I like how it turned out.

P.S. Thats me and my sister Jenny in the photo!

John Clare - The Nightingale's Nest

This is an illustration of a John Clare poem, The Nightingale's Nest, we read in an Romantic Literature class. It is done in watercolor, pencil crayon, and black ink.

Film Images

These are images from my final film at Sherian about myself and my best friend Kristie.

These were color tests, for the character colors when it was sunny weather and rainy weather in my film.
This is a background image from the film. It is a bench at a bus stop where the film takes place.
This is a still from my film where the main character tries to get in out of the rain but the bus shelter is full. (the rain was an animation effect in the film, thats why there is no rain in the image...haha)
All images are watercolor and brushpen on illustration board.

Sketches

These are some sketches of people in the food court at Oakville Place Mall.
These are just some random doodles from a page in my sketchbook. The top left is my sister Jenny in a charicatured run.
These are of my youngest sister, Melissa. I get to draw her more often becuase she is around more often.
Most of these drawings are done in marker and black pen, except for the ones of Melissa which are watercolor and pen in the top image and pencil in the bottom two.

Lifedrawing
